"In the poignant novel The Seasons of a Heart, the struggle for survival in a frozen wilderness awakens a forbidden love."

Originally, I conceived the story for The Seasons of a Heart as a screenplay and it was written as one. But a friend suggested that it might work better as a novel and so the screenplay was scrapped. The novel evolved over a five year period. For most writers, life and earning a living get in the way of literary endeavors. That's my story.

If I were to describe The Seasons of a Heart I would call it a love story. It is a story of the love a father has for his daughter, the daughter's love for her environment and the love of one person for another. It is also a story of survival and the will to live. And, it is a story of tolerance and learning to accept who we are and why we cannot dismiss love from our lives (no matter whom we love) if our soul is to survive.

I have been asked, "Why the wolf?" The wolf plays a very important part in the story. He represents that part of us that we cannot lose if we are to survive spiritually. There are of course other things that he represents to me. I will let readers determine what they will about the wolf. I have my own ideas.

I hope you enjoy this book.
